Spiny lobsters, also known as freshwater cockles, are a small bivalve mollusk found in sandy and muddy bottoms. They are often used as bait for sport fishing.
They are characterized by an oval and elongated shell, with colors ranging from dark brown to light gray, with some spots and stripes on its surface. Although they can be found in various parts of the world, they are especially popular on the Galician coast and in the Algarve region of Portugal.
